Bio
Hello welcome to my website.
So a little bit of background. I was brought up in Northamptonshire, England, the middle of three and as a moody creative child, I loved roaming the countryside and still do!
My dad worked in boots and shoes and my mum was a piano teacher. I learnt the violin before tuning into and loving the sound of bass later on.
I always liked drawing and painting, kept a diary to make sense of the world and always a notebook to jot lyrics, notes and bad poems into.
When I struggled with depression doodling and writing humming were short lived creative outlets.
I have managed to transform my depressive and self-destructive tendencies through my SGI Buddhist practice, met through a good friend while living in Brixton, London. I was looking for something and this daily practice of chanting nam myoho renge kyo, the essence of the Lotis Sutra, helps me master my mind and transform a lot of anger and greed and stupidity! I liked it because i couldn't blame anyone else and it made sense! It's all about our hearts isnt it?
I realised that the inner low life state called hell or closedown can be a platform for creativity but the lesson is not to hang on or stay attached to it!
I was a big skip hunter for bits of wood and hardboard to paint, express myself on. I have helped with children of varying abilities to create and have fun.
I sold my first piece in a little café down the road. This was me getting my life back together.
Being part of a group show in the then Brixton Art Gallery was me overcoming some self sabotage. I sold a piece! For £100!
I have exhibited regularly over many years in London & I used to be part of the Skylark gallery collective in London and moved to Kent in 2001 I exhibited in places and spaces across East Kent from libraries to New Kent Gallery in Broadstairs and the Pie Factory Margate among many others.
I was also was part of an artist residency at Palm Bay, Margate primary school and one of the projects was making instruments and making a travelling soundscape!
You can find my paintings for sale through Saatchi Art or contact me for any other enquiries.
Musically I composed the soundtrack for a friend's film in the LGBTQIA+ community back in the day and always had tunes, basslines, lyrics come to me which I’ve tried to jot down and develop over the years.
Most recently with the help of producer and sound wiz David from Tonic Note records in Margate. A few of my songs are on Soundcloud..looking to find other outlets..
Photography and film I would like to explore and express myself more with. Now living in Yeovil in Somerset i am concentrating more on my music and songs and am part of Yeovil Arts Space and recently joined Saffron Music.
Thanks for visiting and reading..
Lets never give up as we are all unique!
